Description

Panagia. Large central amethyst with etched icon of the Mother of God "Znamenie" ("Our Lady of the Sign"). Center stone is surrounded by gold border, eight smaller amethysts, and leaf design inset with diamonds. Surmounted by a crown with inset amethysts and diamonds. Attached yellow metal chain. Belonged to Bishop Feofan (Gavrilov) (1872-1943).

On original box containing panagiia is stamped in gold: JAHN & BOLIN | JOAILLERS DELACOUR | A St PETERSBOURG. On paper glued to box is handwritten in red ink: Панагiя Знамения на камнѣ.
