Description

Icon of Kazan Mother of God painted on wood. Covered by engraved silver gilt oklad. Halos are cloisonne enamel. Enclosed in glass and wood frame; inside is small Romanov tricolor ribbon.

History Note

According to oral tradition recorded by Archimandrite Kirprian (Pijoff), this icon was a gift of Nicholas II to a certain officer (name unknown), who left it to Valentina Mikhailovna Valitskaia (d. 1977).
