Icon of the Mother of God Znamenie. Egg tempera on wood. Robes and background are gold leaf. Incised and stippled halos, border, and corner designs. Icon was given by Empress Alexandra Fedorovna to Elizaveta Vladimirovna Geatsintova in 1916.
Icon was presented by Empress Alexandra Fedorovna to Elizaveta Vladimirovna Giatsintova (June 2, 1858, Saint Petersburg - 1935, Yugoslavia) nee Mazaraki. Giatsintova was wife of Nikolai Egorovich Giatsintov, director in the Ministry of Finance in Russian in the early 1900s. Giatsintova was the head of the hospital at the Ministry of Finance during World War I. A note accompanying the icon reproduces an inscription on a metal plaque that was orignially attached to the reverse of the icon an buried during "the retreat": Благословенiе | Е.И.В. | Государыни Императрицы | Александры Ѳеодоровны | за труды и работу | заведующей госпиталем | при Мин. финансов | Е.В.
