Description

Icon of Hieromartyr Basil and Great Martyr Paraskeva, with small image of Christ above them. St. Basil holding Gospel, St. Paraskeva holding scroll with inscription in Slavonic: ВѢРУЮ ВО ЕДИНАГО БОГА ОТЦА ВСЕДЕРЖИТЕЛЯ ТВОРЦА ("I believe in one God, the Father Almighty" - the opening words of the Nicene Creed). Tempera on wood, covered by orante silver gilt oklad with gems. Vestments worn by the Saints and Christ are silver filigree; the haloes and corner spandrels are multicolored cloisonne enamel on silver with inset gems.
