Description

Gold brocade epitrachelion. Probably from the set of vestments designed by the firm of A. and V. Sapozhnikov to be worn by clergy for the coronation of Nicholas II and Alexandra in 1896. Pattern of Imperial double eagle is embroidered in gold, silver, yellow, and red thread. Six equilateral crosses on front, embroidered with gold thread and sequins. On bottom are two rows of gold fringe. Brass (?) filigree buttons running down the front. Reverse is lined with white silk.

Inscriptions & Markings

On bottom of reverse are two oval ink stamps: MOСКОВСКАГО ПРИДВОРНАГО ВЕРХОСПАССКАГО СОБОРА. On reverse of neck piece are three illegible inscriptions in pencil.
