Description

Central cross is painting of crucified Christ, oil on metal. Surrounded by diamonds?, rubies?, emeralds? and pearls. Crown hinged to top. Teardrop pendant with large emerald attached on bottom. Silver chain. On reverse of cross is engraved emblem of the Union of the Russian People and inscription: Архимандриту Виталiю благодарный Волынскiй "Союзъ Русскаго Народа" ("To Archimandrite Vitaly from the greateful Volyn' 'Union of the Russian People'").

History Note

Belonged to Archimandrite (later Archbishop) Vitaly (Maximenko), and later to Metropolitan Laurus. Metropolitan Laurus wore this cross for liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral in Moscow in May 2007.
