Description

Church Slavonic prayer book, printed in Russian characters. Published by M.O. Vol'f. Chromolithograph icons and Byzantine-style borders based on designs by Fedor Solntsev (1801-1892). First icon is of St. George. Red leather binding with gilt design, gilt title on spine. Gilt page edges. Black and gold endpapers. On bottom of spine is stamp "ENGEL. REL. A PARIS". Printed during the reign of Alexander II (see p. 16). 247 pages. Belonged to Count George Aleksandrovich Cheremetieff (1887-1971).

History Note

Belonged to Count George Aleksandrovich Cheremetieff (1887-1971), who was ordained a priest in 1950 and served in London from 1952, and his wife, Ekaterina Dmitrievna. April 23, 1911, mentioned in a note at the beginning of the book, was the date of Easter (according to the Gregorian calendar).
