Description

Tercentenary Commemorative Cross given to members of the clergy for the 300th anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty (1613-1913). Silver gilt equilateral cross with white, green, blue and red enamel on front. Cross is surmounted by the "Cap of Monomakh". Three tear-drop shapes at bottom of cross. On reverse in red enamel is inscription in Church Slavonic: ГОСПОДЕМЪ ЦАРIЕ ЦАРСТВУЮТЪ ("By the Lord kings rule"); monograms of Czars Mikhail and Nicholas II; 1613-1913 in Slavonic numerals; Romanov coat of arms on top. Cross is on 23"-long brass chain.

History Note

Belonged to Archimandrite Sergii (Romberg) (1920-1992), who wore it as a pectoral cross. Transferred to museum after his death.
