Description

Silver Chalice engraved and stamped with images of Christ Pantocrator, the Holy Virgin Mary, John the Baptist and the Cross, above which is the inscription around rim (in Church Slavonic) "Тело Христово приимите, Источника Безсмертнаго вкусите" ("Receive ye the Body of Christ, taste ye of the Fountain of Immortality"). Engraved on the base are images of the four Evangelists. The chalice was used in a military camp during World War II and has a shrapnel hole on the bottom from bombardment of the camp. At the time the chalice was in the possession of Hieromonk Anthony (Medvedev) (later Archbishop of Western America and San Francisco), who was a chaplain in the Army of General Vlasov.
