$5,000 Grant Awarded by CLRC for Retrospective Conversion of Library Records
The Central New York Library Resources Council (CLRC) awarded a $5,000.00 grant for the retrospective conversion of the core Russian Orthodox collection of Holy Trinity Seminary library. The core collection contains numerous rare and unique titles. Retrospective conversion, the process by which existing card catalogs and shelf lists are converted to machine-readable format, allows these one-of-a-kind titles to be searchable online through the library OPAC and OCLC WorldCat. In this way, these valuable materials are made accessible to the general public. The 2014 grant is the third one received from CLRC for this important project. In 2012, over 1,200 records were converted thanks to the grant. It is estimated that the 2014 grant will allow for the conversion of over 1,000 titles. Holy Trinity Seminary and the Foundation of Russian History are grateful to CLRC for its generosity and continuing support.
