Patriarch Tikhon Exhibit
A mini exhibit of objects related to Patriarch Tikhon (Bellavin) will be on view October 9 and 10 in conjunction with the symposium "Saint Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow (1865-1925): His Life and Times" organized by Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary. The symposium is dedicated to the Patriarch's "double” anniversary: 150 years since his birth, and 90 years since his repose. Scholars from the U.S., Canada, Russia, Latvia and Ukraine will be presenting papers on various aspects of Patriarch Tikhon's life.
The exhibit, drawn from the collections of the Foundation of Russian History, features photographs, portraits, and publications relating to Patriarch Tikhon. Among these are a book that belonged to the Patriarch's father, Rev. Ioann Bellavin, and several textbooks from Patriarch Tikhon's days as a student at the St. Petersburg Theological Academy. Also on view will be his velvet cassock, on loan from the Synod of Russian Bishops of the Russian Church Abroad.
